The season in numbers

Full ledger

Two Brothers. One Dream.

One year ago, we were both stood in our kitchen talking about football and how betting on games had recently not been giving us the results we wanted. This is when we thought to ourselves. Would it be possible to create a data-driven program to deliver the best betting results? Just like that, TheBetReferee was born.

Being two brothers who love football, we've always loved talking about the football, and even better, we both like a good bet. This has given us the background knowledge of the sport to then think about how we might create TheBetReferee. So what about us invidually? What are our credentials?

About Dale

  • An unfortunate lifelong Birmingham City fan Dale, the older of the two brothers, has been a Bluenose since he was a kid. He's seen the successes of the 2011 Carling Cup, and the lows of getting relegated to League 1. He's the walking football encyclopedia behind this project.
  • A fan of all sport Dale has worked in the automotive industry for 20+ years, currently at JLR. However, his passion has always been sport and football in particular, which was the inspiration behind this project
  • The brains behind the idea Drafted in the kitchen, while our mum was complaining about us not finishing the washing up, Dale suggested it may be possible that we can create a data-driven bet builder, which brings us onto the brains behind the data itself.

About Henry

  • An unfortunate lifelong Manchester United fan Maybe slightly less unfortunate than Dale, Henry has been a Red Devil also since a young age. He has seen the successes of the team winning the league (might be a while ago now) and the lows of losing to Grimsby Town more recently.
  • The brains behind the model itself. Having just completed the second year of his Maths degree and choosing to specialise in probability theory, he is the brains behind the Probability Modelling involved in the project. He is the man behind the data, bringing you numbers you can trust.
  • Poker Lover Having been interested in Poker and part of the University Poker Society, statistical betting has always been an interest. This is one of the key motivators that brought him to want to create something like TheBetReferee

What we want to deliver

When we considered what we wanted out of this, it's not just about us. Football creates communities, and we want to give back to those who are avid football fans. In a world where football becomes more data-driven and business centred, we wanted to create a genuine product that gives back to the fans.

Our way of doing this, is to take what we know is possible and make it accessible and transparent. This is so you know exactly what your acca's chances are of winning, just without all of the hassle of trying to eyeball it and assuming it will happen. Along with that, unlike other companies, we post all of our results, so you know exactly what you are getting when you join us.

What our product does

Our product is a prediction model, that we are now on our third iteration of. Our model builds accas and single bet predictions, not based on solely whats the most likely, but also based on what is going to give you the most returns The product is up and running for its first league campaign, and we have done so with full transparency so you can see the results for yourself.

We hope that now you know a bit about us you will join us on our journey to create the prediction model that doesn't work for the bookies, but works for you.
